About this pest control referral service
Who runs Byron Bay Pest Control, what happens to a pest or termite enquiry, and how to check a NSW pest technician's licence before any treatment.
Byron Bay Pest Control is an enquiry and referral website operated by Yes Right Pty Ltd, ABN 91 664 546 061. It does not inspect homes, apply pesticides or install termite systems. Your enquiry goes to an independent local pest management business, and that business decides whether to take the job, quotes you directly and carries out any inspection or treatment it agrees to.
We do not run a depot in Byron Bay, employ technicians or hold a pesticide licence. We do not publish reviews, ratings or completed jobs, because none of those would be ours to claim. Any illustration on the site shows the kind of work being discussed, not a property treated through this service.
What happens after you send an enquiry?
- You fill in the enquiry form with your suburb, contact details and a short description of the pest problem or inspection you need.
- We read it and pass it to one independent provider who services that part of the Northern Rivers and handles that type of work.
- If the provider can take the job, it contacts you, asks any questions it needs answered, and may want photos or a site visit before it prices anything.
- You decide whether to accept their quote. Nothing is booked until you and the provider agree on it.
Sending the form is not a booking, and we cannot promise a provider will be free on a particular day or able to take every job. The provider may pay Yes Right Pty Ltd a fee for the referral. That fee does not change who you contract with: your agreement is with the provider. The privacy policy explains what happens to the details you send us.
What is the provider responsible for?
The independent business that accepts your job is responsible for:
- holding the licence NSW requires for the work it does, and showing it to you on request
- choosing registered products, following the label directions and giving you the product name and safety data sheet if you ask
- telling you how to prepare the house, pets and food areas, and how long to stay out of treated rooms
- the written quote, the scope, any warranty terms, the invoice and the inspection report
- fixing anything that goes wrong with its own work
How do I check a pest controller’s licence in NSW?
In NSW, a person using pesticides for pest control for a fee needs a licence issued by the NSW Environment Protection Authority under the Pesticides Act 1999 and the Pesticides Regulation 2017. Termite and other timber pest treatments now need the timber pest management technician licence, which the EPA has been phasing in. The licence is held by the individual technician, not by the business name on the van.
Three practical checks before you agree to a treatment:
| Check | Where |
|---|---|
| Search the technician’s name or licence number | EPA pesticide licences public register |
| Ask to see the photo licence card and confirm the photo matches and the expiry date has not passed | EPA advice on engaging a pest management technician |
| If the job also involves building or renovation work, look up the contractor licence | Verify NSW licence search |
An inspection on its own is different. The EPA says a person who only inspects for timber pests and does not apply pesticides does not need an EPA licence, so for an inspection ask instead about the inspector’s timber pest training, insurance and whether the written report follows AS 4349.3. The EPA’s licence rules for pest management technicians set out the training each licence type needs.
Where does the service cover?
Enquiries come from Byron Bay and nearby towns in Byron Shire and Ballina Shire. Start with the Byron Bay area page or browse the pest control guides to work out what to ask for. Whether a provider travels to your street depends on that provider.
Next step
Tell us the suburb, what you have seen (droppings, mud tubes, live insects, chewed wiring), roughly where in the house, and whether you rent, own or manage a holiday let. A clear description helps the provider decide quickly whether to call or visit. Send your pest enquiry when you are ready.
